Privacy Policy
What we collect
- Nothing, unless you sign in. The harmonium itself runs entirely in your browser — you can play, record, and download without any account.
- If you use "Save to cloud": we sign you in with Google and store your name, email, and profile image as provided by Google OAuth, plus the audio recordings you choose to save.
- Settings: your volume, raga, theme, and keymap preferences are stored in your browser's
localStorageonly — never sent to our servers.
How we use it
- Your email identifies you so only you can see and delete your own recordings.
- Saved recordings are served over public, unguessable URLs. They are deleted automatically 15 days after upload, and you can delete them yourself at any time from My recordings. The free plan holds up to 3 saved recordings (audio and video combined).
- We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Third-party services
- Google Sign-In — sign-in only. We receive your email, name, and avatar. Privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Pages & R2 — hosting, CDN, and recording storage. Server logs (IP, user agent) are kept briefly for abuse prevention. Privacy policy.
- Google Analytics 4 — aggregate, anonymised usage statistics (pages viewed, country, device type). We never send your name, email, or recordings to it. Privacy policy.
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymised heatmaps and session statistics used to improve the layout. Privacy statement.
- Google AdSense — displays advertising on this site. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. How Google uses advertising data.
- YouTube — some song pages embed a video of the piece being played. The player is loaded from
youtube-nocookie.com, which sets nothing until you press play; once you do, YouTube may set cookies as described in Google's privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run tracking pixels beyond the services listed above.
Advertising & personalised ads
Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices. Users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland are shown a consent prompt before any personalised advertising cookies are set.
Your rights
- You can delete any individual cloud recording from the "My Recordings" dialog.
- You can request deletion of your account and all associated recordings by emailing [email protected].
- EU/UK (GDPR) and California (CCPA) users have the right to access, correct, export, or delete their data — email us and we'll handle it within 30 days.
Cookies
We use one session cookie (set by Supabase) to keep you signed in. Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Google AdSense set their own cookies as described above; you can block or delete these at any time in your browser settings.
Terms of Service
Use of the service
- Web Harmonium is a free musical instrument simulator, provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
- You're welcome to use recordings made with it for any purpose, personal or commercial — you own what you record.
- Don't use the cloud storage feature to host content that is illegal, harassing, or infringes someone else's copyright. We may remove such content and revoke access.
Availability
- The service may change, have outages, or be discontinued at any time. Cloud recordings older than 1 hour (via shareable link) or beyond your personal quota (currently 5) may be deleted automatically.
- Download important recordings locally — the cloud copy is a convenience, not long-term storage.
Samples & attribution
The harmonium audio samples used by this site are CC0 (public domain). See the About panel on the main page for source credits. Any included web assets (Tone.js, Supabase client) are used under their respective open-source licenses.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Web Harmonium and its operator are not liable for any damages arising from use of or inability to use the service, including lost recordings, data, or musical inspiration.
Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance.
